Google assigns resellers for Apps…

Not sure if any of you guys saw this a few weeks back, but Google took another encroaching step into Microsoft’s world.

According to TheRegister (and several other blogs) in mid-January Google had assigned several re-sellers (50 so far) to take the charge on selling Google Apps on their behalf.
Google Apps have been around for at least 2 years now, but up until this re-seller venture you’d have to be fairly web savvy to find/download it. This move will ensure that many more SMEs will have access to a formal implementation and possibly support (?) process. In a way this move formalizes the application and will elevate it to a more credible alternative to MS Office. More importantly in these dire economic times it’s likely that more and more companies will move over as their MS licenses expire and they revise their IT budgets.
