Kumo? Microsoft Live Search to re-brand?

According to TechCrunch there are reports that Microsoft is contemplataing the re-launch and re-brand of Microsoft Live Search… while it looks like Live.com will focus on evolving into a pure social network following it’s first steps in that direction earlier this month.

The TechCrunch sources think that Live Search will re-brand to Kumo, which means ‘cloud’ or ’spider’ in Japanese.

Quite a lot of people will be wondering why? After only 2-3 years of LiveSearch launching… but I guess like many companies before it… the re-brand is to signfiy change to both internal staff and external users… and to re-create some buzz and hype…

I’ll update this post when the name is confirmed, in the meantime here’s the post from TechCrunch…
