IE 8.. now out in Beta2

The NY Times Bits (technology section) gives a quick summary on the launch of IE 8, it’s features and the nostalgia of the browser wars.
In the meantime, The Register points out some clunky and annoying issues with Microsofts interoperability promise (WebMonkey too) … and how XP users with Service Pack 3 installed, being locked in to an incomplete IE8 browser that you can’t downgrade…

But moving on from the cynicism for a minute… it does look as if MS have put a lot of effort into this one…. it’s features such as InPrivate browsing, Web Slices and Accelerators… are likely to prove quite useful to the masses. If you’re interested in giving it a dabble (assuming you’re not on XP SP3…) you can download here.
