SearchEngine Land reports that Google has been testing presenting Videos differently within the organic listings…
As part of their Universal Search project, Google presents different media and channel results within their organic listings… when 2 videos were returned these would often sit above each other and push down the organic indexed results. As per this article, it appears that Google is testing a side-by-side (horizontal) approach as part of some usability enhancements.
Personally, I think this will work quite well, for one it’ll be less disruptive to the other organic listings and only take the place of one rather than two deserving sites/pages. In addition, it’ll probably allow Google to present up to 3 or 4 embedded videos horizontally in the future.
Interestingly, this article did not refer to the fact that Google had removed two sets of information per video result to accommodate this change. From the screen-shots it appears that they’ve removed the video rating and the one line description of the video.
